Citizen Science Projects

Citizen Science Projects allow anyone to help preserve our natural ecosystems

Each project listed collects scientific data on habitat and species in the saltmarsh under the direction of academic scientists. We conduct training workshops which explain our scientific methodology, introduce you to project organizers and scientists, and provide calendars of activity which allow you to sign up for the days you wish to participate. All volunteers are supervised during their participation in our projects in order to validate the gathering of scientific data. Our training workshops are advertised in the local newspapers, on this website, and through flyers distributed at local libraries and community service bulletin boards. Or just ask us.

We invite anyone from the general public - students, neighbors, interested individuals and groups - to help in the process of data collection by registering as a volunteer with The Friends. The process is easy. Just contact us by email at flaxpondfriends@gmail.com
